The story so far.

How years inside the WhatsApp protocol became a platform, and why it now lives in Switzerland.

Years inside the protocol.

Before Polymorfa there were the libraries. Rajeh Taher, better known as purpshell, spent years reverse-engineering WhatsApp in the open as a maintainer of Baileys and whatsapp-web.js, with contributions across whatsmeow and the Matrix bridge.

The libraries became a career: the Whaticket days, contract work for BotConversa, and bridge work at Beeper under Automattic, the company behind WordPress and Tumblr. One observation kept repeating: the API everyone needed did not exist.
